Hi, I’m Scott.
I’m a home repair DIYer, house-flipper, YouTuber, husband, and dad, living in Georgia. I grew up in a rural Illinois town where I was always building, fixing, or figuring things out, whether it was a treehouse or a broken dirt bike. That hands-on mindset, paired with a lifelong curiosity and drive to learn, led me to start sharing repair tips and how-to guides on YouTube and my blog. I’m not a pro, just a pretty handy guy who loves helping others feel more confident taking on projects around the house.
I started Everyday Solar to create a community sharing my personal journey of installing solar at my home, sharing the real-world process, hurdles, and successes I’ve encountered. I hope to empower DIYers to confidently approach solar energy through what I’m learning along the way.

Our goal?
If you’ve ever stumbled upon a DIY YouTube channel on home repairs, that might have been me. It’s built on the same foundation as Everyday Home Repairs—helping DIYers build with confidence while saving time and money.
Here’s what Everyday Solar is all about:
1. Sharing my first-hand journey as I take on solar installation at my own home, giving you an unfiltered look into the process, challenges, and outcomes.
2. Providing a grounded perspective on solar energy, bridging the gap between technical jargon and practical homeowner concerns.
While I’ve been a part of numerous DIY projects over the years, solar installation offers its own set of challenges. Even with my background, tasks like tying into the grid present a steep learning curve. It’s why I’m having a professional installation on my own house.
But everything else, I’ll figure out myself, and I’ll take you along for the ride. I’m keen to share every step of the process with you.
